Elder Jesse J. Goben died at his home on Jefferson St. on Monday evening at 7 o'clock of stomach disease after a long and trying illness, which he bore with great resignation. He was 77 years of age and was born in Shelby County, Kentucky but had been a resident of Montgomery County since 1829. He was a Pioneer Baptist Minister. His funeral was preached at Walnut Creek Church on yesterday afternoon by Elders Whitlock and Darnell. Burial in Lee Cemetery at Smartsburg. March 15, 1886, Crawfordsville, Indiana. Note: Jesse Goben was born 17 Dec 1808 and died 15 Mar 1886, son of James Goben & Elizabeth "Betsey" Cline Goben.
